Affirming Care with an Experienced Psychologist
Sometimes we long for a change, have parts of ourselves we wish to share with others, or crave better connections. It can be difficult to do alone and confusing about where or how to start. Therapy provides a space where we consider your unique goals and help you find a path forward that is inclusive of your needs and your whole self.
After 20 years in the field, I have been honored to support clients from different countries, races, backgrounds, religions and social contexts. While I work with everyone, I have specialized in working with lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, non-binary, and queer individuals. As a result, I am familiar with how often people can experience their world as dismissive, invalidating, silencing, tokenizing, and/or marginalizing. Overall, it makes it difficult to get your needs met and find the satisfaction and peace you want in your life.
My style is laid back. I offer traditional conversational talk therapy. Clients report that I am approachable and ask good questions to help them explore their experience more in depth and from different perspectives. I use an integrative approach, which refers to a therapist's ability to see each person as an individual and consider their strengths, fears, cultures, background & supports during treatment planning and conceptualization. As a result, therapy is tailored to each individual.
Who you are and where you come from has influenced you and how you view your world. It is my role to assist you in understanding the impact of this history without judgment or criticism. We will consider how it has impacted you, while also determining how you want to use your strengths to move forward in your life. We'll actively collaborate to help you move forward.
As an individual, I enjoy time with friends and family, nurturing my plants, reading novels, petting puppies, laughing, sitting in the sunshine, and appreciating the little things in life when I can.
